We love seeing drawers repurposed as containers (usually placed on a table top holding books or DVDs). This version is definitely a spin on the traditional use and can be hung just by using L-brackets.
An in/outbox is sure to make any family run more efficiently and using a dresser or desk drawer is a great way to repurpose in the home. You can get creative and change out the knobs or paint them to match your decor. We'd also put them to use in the bedroom to double as a nightstand.

What a cool idea! Environmental friendly as well.
And you can use the knobs as hooks to hang up a hat or umbrella!
very neat. You can even paint them, or put some cool knobs. And try hanging them in such a way that the hanging support is least visible
I agree with aster about the brackets - they were immediately noticeable in the photo. I'd put them inside/behind the drawer rather than underneath. I would also worry about walking into them or banging my head - would have to be very careful about the placement:) May be safer (for me) hung over a credenza or something.
Very cute!
Clever and resourceful! But at that height, it's hard to see the contents. I'd mount them a little lower. That would also minimize the visibility of the underside, which usually isn't so good-looking.
They actually hang very low, because the jackets underneath are from my two-year old daughter, so the lowest is at 120 cm - therefore you can see very well, what in the drawers. The higher one is at about 150 cm, so you don't get to hurt your head anyway. Also I cut them with a saw, so they don't stick out too far.
at least once a week i see something that makes me want to kick myself yet again for not pulling these awesome turquoise drawers out of a dumpster that i saw.
I think it just looks kinda messy...maybe because they're off-set?
yuck
Simple, effective and ingenious.... what i really hate is the horrible way they mounted them on the wall......
Maybe consider putting a hinged board over the top of them so the contents aren't for all to see -- since they're hung so low. You could use the faces of the other drawers (presumably they're from some sort of dresser that would offer a few more drawers to scrap?) They'd be the same wood, already the right width & patina. Caps, mittens, scarves, mail overflowing... could look kinda junky if you're not careful.
Drawers are generally unfinished, lesser-quality wood on the sides, so I assume that you stained these?
After cutting them to make the depth shorter, a better solution might have been to reattach the back piece, then mount them invisibly from behind.
Mounting drawers on the wall...
...it's an existentialist's conundrum.
Is a drawer still a drawer when it's no longer in a cabinet?
Or is it now just a box on a wall with a handle?
