Call it an infatuation, but lately I've been smitten with exterior-scale lanterns hung on the inside of the home. This roundup showed lanterns in the kitchen, but here are some in the rest of the rooms of the house:
Foyer: What else could hold its weight with a zebra stripe runner?
Kitchen: This one is all about scale.
Dining Room: A sculptural lamp complements the artwork on the walls.
Bedroom: Another lantern alongside abstract art.
Living Room: Bold pinks and greens get serious with a traditionally-styled lantern.
Bathroom: This looks like it's in an older building, but the wall color, lantern, and sink are all making a statement.

I bought 2 matching, hanging brass lanterns from a thrift store. They had beveled glass and were in mint condition. Newly married, my husband hated them and I eventually got rid of them. It's one of those things I've regretted and console myself with the hope, nay, BELIEF that someone was ecstatic to find them & loves them to this day!
now that's how you do zebra. the lanterns great too, of course
Anyone know a source for the lantern in the last picture?
I don't really care for the zebra in the first photo. I think the rest looks fresh and amazing, but the zebra.....too much.
the lanterns are awesome. are these estate sale/flea market finds? i have to say that i love the zebra!! with the dark wood tone of the stairs, i think it looks so chic and modern against the elegant look of the rest of the house and ups the zebras elegance factor by association.
