In the past few years, printed bedding has returned to vogue (printed sheets were something from the 60's & 70s!) and delicate printed patterned sheets are all the rage at retailers like West Elm, Plover Organics and DwellStudio. Now, that trend is evolving to bigger and bigger patterns: giant, over-scaled printed patterns are the latest trend for bedding — here are 5 current examples:
- Chang Mai Duvet Set Blissliving Home -
$275$137.50 - Marimekko Seireeni Rust Bed Linens from Crate & Barrel - $34.95-$139
- Floral Divide Duvet Cover from Urban Outfitters - $78
- Ravenna Bedding from Anthropologie - $58-$228
- Organic Bloom Duvet Cover + Shams from West Elm - $19-$99

I definitely have one on my bed - from Target a couple of years ago. I was immediately drawn in by the turquoise, purple and huge pattern, and I've kept it ever since, and have started decorating with it in mind. They're AWESOME.
OH maaaaan that first duvet is really wonderful.
Ikea has some great big-patterened duvets and sheets, like http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90145782
I also use my duvet (another graphic one from IKEA) as the main point to decorate from since it takes up so much space! It might as well be a cool pattern/texture/color!
Merimekko!!!!
my heart belongs to urban outfitters, esp. jewel floral and bohemian paisley:

Love the first one.
Hmm... this is an interesting trend, and I often love the look of these large-scale prints, but I think they can make decorating the rest of the room kind of challenging.
I have a Crate and Barrel duvet cover with a bright, large print (though slightly smaller in scale than these examples) and it provides a great focal point in the room. The only problem is that sometimes I feel like it is too dramatic, and too noticeable; like maybeamezzo, I find myself decorating around it. And I worry about using something as impermanent and replaceable as bedding as my main design focus! If I get sick of the pattern and want to change it later, I don't want to feel "locked in" to the color palette, like you would be in the first example shown here. With such a dramatic print on your bedding, I think you need to stick to lots of neutrals, or be prepared to redesign your whole space when you change your duvet cover.
I love the brilliant colors! I just re-did my bedroom and found an awesome site online where you can actually order custom made bedding, so I was able to grab some bright colors and coordinate them perfectly with my room.
