- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- The big windows, high ceilings, maple floors. I have lived in my apartment for 23 years and have tried various sleeping arrangements: a loft bed, a single bed, several different full-size beds (with headboard and without). What I've got now seems to work well and is very versatile. I just need to paint a wall and change the sheets/blanket, and it's a new room. Some of the photos show recent, different versions of my bedroom. The large painting in front of the window was a curbside find. I live on a really noisy street and the windows face south, so it's bright. The painting gives me a bit more privacy.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- As little furniture as possible, only what you really need (and like) and keep it simple, white walls, art you like and colors that make you feel safe and warm. Fresh flowers and sheer curtains are nice too.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- My bedroom is really small (only 7 x 13) so I don't use it for much other than sleeping and talking on the phone. I still have a landline and an old fashioned phone. I use it in the bedroom because that's where the jack is. I sit on the rocker while talking and watch the people walking by outside.

I knew this was NYC before even scrolling down. Very beautiful and simple. That painting is incredible. What a find.
One of the best! The neutral color scheme is calming. This bedroom has a relaxed attitude and not too much stuff, and what there is, is not too pristine. I can even excuse the Eames rocker, as it would not be easy to find another rocker that was small enough for the space!
I have a pet peeve for styling for pictures. Nice bedroom though.
I love this room! I too knew it was Brooklyn (hometown, though I life thousands of miles away) before seeing the description. It's so cozy and laid back, but with just the right amount of finesse. And to have those windows looking out on greenery is so nice.
sigh--I "live"
Beautiful space! feels very relaxing and love the artwork and chair.
This is really cute... why is the phone migrating?
You did well to rescue the large artwork from curbside.
I actually took better photos the next day and uploaded them but they posted my first entry ... Oh well ... the phone is migrating because there are actually a few different time periods in these photos ... The first photo is the current one.
Thanks for your positive comments! Not sure what you mean by "styling for pictures" Traci ... I actually took that as a compliment, this is the place, as is, no styling ... there's even a really dirty wall if you look closely in the mirror ... The windows are what make the place special, otherwise it's just your typical, run-down rent stabilized apartment.
love this! i want to see the rest of your apartment! do you have pics? bendsf@gmail.com
i love this simply b/c it looks like something i would do. it's very warm, artsy, modern, & looks like it's actually lived in.
ps- try not to let the "stylized" comments upset you. when i got into some of the finals for room for color, that's about the meanest thing people could say. i'm sorry, but what exactly is wrong w/ cleaning your room before you take a photo? lol if the worst someone can say is that it is stylish, good on ya.
Lovely! The colors are so warm and soothing, and I personally love that painting, think it works really well!
Wow, I absolutely love that painting!
Oh! Thanks for answering my prying question. :)
BTW, I love your windows.
