Name: Laurie
Location: East Village — NYC
Laurie's place in the East Village is bright and welcoming in the way that Scandinavian homes often are, with pale floors, light walls and plenty of sunny, coloful accents mixed in with clean lined smart storage solutions.
The apartment is housed in a older building and is designed in a way to make the most of modern updates where they work yet leaves the vintage charm intact whenever possible. We love that the apartment includes both a gorgeously redesigned contemporary kitchen and a bath with great, classic old school style for a perfect mix of the best of old and new!
Thanks, Laurie!

Ercol Bar Stool
Perfectly perfect.
Beautiful kitchen and bathroom.
I love this, especially the shared kids room. I'd want a little more artwork or color on the walls, personally, but the pops of color elsewhere and uncluttered spaces are amazing. Jealous.
Really like the kitchen table. Where can I get it? :)
Very beautiful and refreshing! I love the kitchen and bathroom best!
I love the entire space, especially the kitchen and bathroom. Could you please tell me the make and model of your refrigerator. Thanks!
Generally, I love all white rooms, but I feel like this is a bit too much? Mainly because all of the white seems to be the same white or the same surface. It feels like living inside an art box or something. Maybe if there were some differences in the white, like introducing more texture.
I want to go to there!
i agree with anita, i'd need more texture for my taste but kudos to Laurie and family -- it's beautifully executed.
I love the spaciousness and the shade of white paint, love the kitchen and bathroom too, but why so many bookcases with no books in them?
Nice. Does not look at all like the East Village. Cheers!
WELL IF YOU LOVE IT YOU CAN BUY IT!!!!

That's a first; spamming your own House Call.
I couldn't tell if I was looking at a house call or an IKEA ad. This is all well put together but I feel what happened here is what I am always in constant fear of happening to me as well. Everything is very seamless but it screams IKEA showroom. That is the one problem I guess with a great affordable design store for the home. We all know it and can spot it. I am not taking away from what has been accomplished here, I just wish I would see a few more pieces that I didn't know where they were from.
Too white for me! I'd be constantly afraid to get something dirty. I love the decor, though... especially the unique kitchen cabinets
@perfidia: lol, your remark is spot on!
Having said that, beautiful house, especially the bathroom; I personally would add more interesting curtains though.
Is this an unoccupied place staged for sale, then? How funny.
I absolutely love it! As a child, I grew up in a very white and beige home. My mother's style was very elegant and loved the classic neutral decor...however, for EVERYTHING! Furniture, wall and carpet. I vowed that when I grew up and had my own place, I would not have not one white wall. True to my word, I don't. every wall in every room is colored. Even in a room with a colored accent wall, the other walls are a "cottage white" or "sandstone." That being said, the more I see on AP how people are doing the monochromatic with the all white, the more I love it. It's about how they do it. As in the pics above, they is tons of color...it's just in the decor, and the rooms don't look bland or institutional at all. A+ to this homeowner for her classic, vibrant, fun and youthful style!
So this is an ad rather than a real house tour?
Yes, another AT advertorial.
Funny how the comments went south after she mentioned it was for sale...lol.
She must work in marketing.
If she worked in marketing, she'd have written a better pitch than: "WELL IF YOU LOVE IT YOU CAN BUY IT!!!!"
OR, Y'KNOW, NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the orange shelves in the kitchen. I never would have thought of that.
Eeeeks, where is the colorful accents? You mean the one color in the shelves?? Too white for me, sorry, don't like it.
I was wondering why the kid's room looked a bit sparse, looked a little too "fresh from Ikea" for me (I love the concept of Ikea, don't get me wrong).
Laurie: Is this the look of your house pre-staging? (I know there are minimalists out there!)
Do like the kitchen very much!
The orange accent colors here, there seem a little mathematical to me ("Design Rule #45: Please keep your color accents to 3 items per room!")--I wonder if more items of color were taken out so as not to "shock" a potential buyer!
I love that tangerine lamp! Great pop of color.

Very IKEA. It's attractive, but there's not a whole lot of personality here.
Its way too white for my taste, but its very tastefully done.
Lovely! Where is the round orange/white rug from?
I don't think anyone should knock on this particular HC; I remember seeing lots of tours/calls where the occupants were going to be relocating soonnothing motivates one to get one's home in shape as when you need to show it to potential buyers, I guess?
Yay, ps rund! I do like the white-with-orange-accents scheme here. Randomly, I wish the living room shot had gone a little further back, so I can see what the wooden side table/stool at the bottom is....
Nicely done. Very "move in ready". Some art would really add personality.
I'm planning a move to a new apartment. I've been planning on using a lot of color - and then I saw this. Uh oh. I'm thinking about changing direction. This is so gorgeous!
I love all white rooms and you've done a great job with it. I love the little pops in each room.
Love the white and small spots of bright color in the kitchen.
I'm with Finhart- where is that rug from? Love it!
straight out of an Ikea catalogue!
