Hearing that La-Z-Boy recently debuted an eco-friendly line of recliners and couches really warms the cold corners of our heart. It's like hearing that grandpa put solar panels on the roof. We grew up with La-Z-Boy -- and for some reason, this really feels like the ultimate bellwether.
If La-Z-Boy, the country's biggest manufacturer of upholstered furniture is going greenish, aren't all other furniture makers probably just a half-step behind them?
Here's the scoop on La-Z-Boy's new EcoComfort Line: EcoComfort fabrics are made from recycled fibers and plastic bottles, while the EcoComfort foam cushions are 20 percent soy based.
The fabrics are available on any La-Z-Boy product, but the foam is currently being used in only the Carlyle leg recliner (pictured; $1,000) and the Larson motion sofa ($1,400).
It's a small start ... but it is a start. And are we crazy, or is that Carlyle leg recliner actually kind of awesome?

yeah, I agree. It's actually not tacky. I have to admit, though... I'd miss the big squishy arms.
