With a classic Bauhaus look and feel, we saw this Corbusier Group design in black leather at DWR and bookmarked it. It looked functional, vintage and comfy all at the same time. We then did a little more hunting and tracked it down at Cassina's website, where we found it in the stunning variations you see above. Designed by Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand of the Corbusier Group in 1928, it evolved from trying to create a seat out by "wrapping inner tubes from tires around a steel frame." Wouldn't it be fun to design chairs? The LC8 is $725 in black and chrome from DWR. At Cassina, the enamel finish and fabric options will lower the price. The one we like, in tan leather and enamel goes for $680. Cassina is at 155 East 56th Street.
