Artist Stefan Zwicky's Domage a Corbu, grand confort sans confort was recently on display at Design Miami 2007; and all we can say is: "Brilliant." Now we're wondering how these would look if they were installed in...say, The Grove! Concrete Le Corbusier, a huge water fountain choreographed to Lionel Ritchie, and the blaring horns from a double-decker trolley filled with Price Is Right contestants...Hm. On second thought, maybe Venice's Abbot Kinney would be more suitable...

These would be great in a public, outdoor setting. In New York, I'd like to see them as "street furniture" in the Meatpacking district - a great way to deter/direct traffic and provide seating. They'd also be great on the Highline. But a few in front of the Conran store would be nice too!
A lot of minimalist pieces create their magic from a combination of rigid lines and softer elements (like foam and fabric...) which offset and balance each other. These cement chairs are entirely composed of severe lines and unwelcoming hard, rough surfaces. I am not sure what the attraction would be other than that they reference something familiar.
Aaron, that was my first thought as well. It would improve any small park in any small town too!

Given how uncomfortable the leather ones are, I'm not sure I'd want to spend much time sitting there.
But, they do look fabulous!
