Inspiration for my palette:
I desperately wanted to get away from the boring white walls in my bedroom for the longest time, but was afraid of color. When I finally mustered up enough courage to paint my bedroom walls teal, a color which I adore, it inspired me to add art and photographs which I equally adored. Adding a splash of color to your walls will either make your existing items pop in a fresh new way, or clash horrifically. Luckily, for me the items I possessed all seemed to complement the teal quite well.
Colors used in my room:
Teal, Black, White, Pink, Violet, Blue, Green, Yellow, Grey, Brown, and Silver
Tips for using color successfully:
Do not be afraid of color! It is your friend and it adds so much to your surroundings. Color has the potential to transform your environment in monumental ways. My favorite use of color is through a fresh flower in a vase and I highly recommend using living plants or flowers in your own space. Also, do not be afraid to paint your walls : ) Each and every color evokes a different set of sensations and emotions to different people. So use colors which YOU respond to well. It doesn't matter if that color is "in" or not. Feng shui is a great resource for using color successfully! It's been around for over 5,000 years for a reason. ;) Trial, error, and experimenting with color will heed excellent results. Give yourself permission to play around and have fun with color in your space. Keep it personal.
