Learning to reupholster furniture can save you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars over time. It's also a great way to save those pieces you love, the ones perfectly fit into your home and you can't imagine living without. I've come across several classes in my area in the past few years, but they inevitably fall when my calendar is already booked. So, when I saw Spruce Home in Austin is offering instructional DVDs that will teach you these coveted skills, I was like...sign me up!
As of now, only the first instructional DVD from Spruce is available; it's $50. In Tight Seats and Backs, "Spruce owner Amanda Brown walks you through the steps of setting up your own work space, tools, materials, stripping furniture and how to upholster pieces with tight seats and backs, including coil spring tying."
If you're not interested in learning the skills of upholstering, but you're dying for that Flight of the Phoenix Chair you saw in the video above the jump, click over to Spruce's online Etsy Shop where they sell rehabbed furniture. Though steeply priced, their fabrics are artfully chosen, giving new life to these old pieces.
