It's time to break out the food coloring again. If you're looking for a great indoor activity that the little ones will probably want to do over and over again, try teaching them about color.
We saw this fun project over at Little Lovely and it reminded me of something I did in preschool. You'll need some clear cups or glasses, food coloring and water. Add a bit of water to each up and drop in several drops of food coloring in the primary colors - red, yellow and blue. Then mix the primary colors into secondary colors - orange, green and purple. And so on. Ask your kids what color they think will result when all of the colors are combined together.

This has never ceased being fun for my daughter, although most colors turned brown she loved mixing them. Lately, we've been trying to dye carnations with food coloring.
I remember doing this in kindergarten and I loved it! Hadn't though of it since. Can't wait to try it with my daughter this weekend.
We do this with my preschool kids but we put the coloured water in clear squeeze bottles, and they can squirt it into big dish buckets or bowls since they're less likely to tip!
I did the carnations with the preschoolers last year and found that the colour was a lot more vibrant when you put it in those little individual water capsules that single stem flowers come in from the florist!
