Every time I think I should start adding more color to my home, I stumble across pictures of gorgeous cream or white rooms and fall back in love with neutrals. Lately, I keep spotting rooms with brown leather chairs and white walls, a look that's sophisticated, mellow, and classic.
While neutral rooms can run the risk of looking uninspired or boring, they also allow accent pieces like these leather chairs to stand out. It's an especially good choice if you're renting and can't paint, since it looks sophisticated and thought-out, rather than resigned.

Nomade Express Slee...
Never having liked leather furniture much, I now have more leather seating than ever dreamed to try to keep the living-dining room nice despite my house dogs. So far, so good as far as its resisting their claws and teeth. Nice to see from this post that it also can look good against white walls like mine.
i've been dreaming of those Charlotte Perriand chairs forever! someday they will be mine....
It's a far cry from apartment white walls and the phenomenal architecture of the second to last picture.
I have cream walls and brown leather chairs in my dining room...yay I'm cool!
That first picture is so sexy. Also, I ordinarily hate butterfly chairs, but the third photo is quite nice.
Yes! But I think it's a more specific requirement. It has to be a saddle-cognac brown, and the leather has to be distressed. It can't look new or dated. No 80's leather furniture!
Generally, I love color, but my family is moving into a condo in a few weeks. It is a temporary move (we sold our house before we found a new one!), so my mantra has been "White walls will be OK... white walls will be OK." Thanks for this reassuring post! I'll focus more on gallery presentations of artwork and the textures of my furnishings. My mantra has made me consider more unique pieces of furniture too.
Cheers!
3&4 - I'd move right in!
@Garrett22, So true. If I'm objective, my living-dining room looks nothing like these photos.
