To be seasonal, I figured I'd write about my family's current autumnal inspirations. My kids are very visual, so we look at a lot of details on our walks. Autumn is particularly bright in our neck of the woods, and leaves in particular bring out my kids' curiosity and need to create.
Here are a few things that inspire me, in my quest to encourage my kids' love for hands-on activities (the kind I can actually enjoy doing with them).
• Leaf art by a couple of Parisian artists who give art workshops to kids.
• A simple leaf crown project by Meg of Elsie Marley.
• A leaves windcatcher tutorial at Centsational Girl.
• Leaves stencil art at Deep Space Sparkle.
• A mason jar make over using leaves at Ginger Bread Snowflakes.

These are great ideas. My nephew has a really cool book with animal and nature scene fall foliage craft ideas for kids 4+.
Fun post! We have a family tradition which I've carried on with the g-kids. Our nature walks are called Treasure Hunts & each kid is equipped with a basket for collecting found treasures. Later, the kids gather round the table with their baskets, construction paper & glue to create works of art with their treasures. A much loved activity and these artworks are my most prized possessions.
The oldest (7 @ the time) asked for a treasure box in which to keep a few special pieces. I quickly rustled up a shoebox & later, for his birthday that yr gifted him with a nice wooden treasure box. When the military took them 3000 mi away, he gifted me his treasure box 'so you won't miss me so much, Grammy' *sniff* It was hard for him to part with...I could see him struggling with giving it up but I didn't dare refuse such a gift from the heart and quietly watched as he finally made peace with it.
He'll be 10 next month. Often when we skype, he asks to see his Treasure Box. I open it up and we carefully examine each prized treasure... precious, precious memories. When he visited last fall, he asked to go on a Treasure Hunt his first morning here. When we flew out for a vist this past summer, HE invited ME to go on a treasure hunt. He had even bought me a basket - prior to my arrival - with his own money in which to collect my treasures.
Doesn't get any better than that.
What a lovely story. Thanks for sharing : )
Such sweet memories. I love this :)
