We haven’t found these for sale in our own neighborhood yet, but we have our eyes open for them. One online source we’ve found is HolidayLED. You can read more about the benefits of switching to LED holiday lights on their website, but here are some highlights:
- In addition to using less energy, they’ll also last 50,000 hours, about 10 times longer than standard incandescent lights.
- The average tree of lights will cost $9 for 30 days whereas LED lights will cost only about .90 cents!
- LED lights will also remain cool to the touch which is safer around children and also makes them significantly less of a fire hazard.
- Now through December 20th, HolidayLED will recycle your incandescent holiday lights for you (find out more here).

I've seen LED string lights at both Target and Home Depot. I'm going to wait for the after holiday sales to get some, as they're a bit more expensive than standard ones but should be quite affordable at 50% off :)
I've seen only a few, and i really really really tried to buy LED lights this year, but i just don't think they're there yet. The only LED christmas lights i found were GIANT, and i definitely prefer the small bulbs that i grew up with. LEDs are tiny -- what's with the big bulbs they slap on top of them???
We just bought some LED lights at Sears for 40% off. They do come in different sizes and shapes - some are small, just the LED, but they also had the ones pictured as well as little round ones.
