Interior Design magazine has opened the online voting for their Best of the Year 2009 Awards. There are 50 categories and a lot of amazing things to look at. One piece that really stood out to us was the Leftover Rug by Koko Architecture + Design.
The Leftovers Rug is competing in the Carpet: Rugs category.
So what's so cool about this rug (other than how it looks)? Well according to the description on the contest page:
This recycled rug is a modified byproduct of a Detroit felt supplier who punches felt plugs for the automotive industry. The resulting “leftovers” has the softness of a deep pile rug, contrasted by a lively graphic moiré pattern. We also like to think of it as our own version of a “Detroit Bailout”.
We want one. But Koko Architecture + Design is selling them for $950 right now. Guess we'll have to wait ...
