Who doesn't like LEGO? Any one dislike MUJI? No hands? A collaboration between these two beloved brands seem very appropriate then. Both MUJI and LEGO are testing the waters for a new consumer base and they joined forces to create the fun Paper — Punch stationery set.
We think this falls more into the "Toy" category but we are always in favor of great minds coming together for fun creations! There are 4 stationery sets — each box includes 120 LEGO pieces and 10 sheets of colored paper. The Paper — Punch set will be available in MUJI Stores, Japan from 27 November and online. Let the LEGO revolution continue!

omg this is brilliant! I'm going to get one when I go to NY!
It's BRILLIANT-ish. I appreciate the fact that Lego wants to expand, not by changing their actual product, but how it's viewed and utilized... it's genius, and in this case, it's beautiful too; and just like Sarovski 'other' category, it's delightfully unexpected. The problem I have with these is the fact that it limits the potential of LEGO's greatest offering to the world of toys: imaginative control. They could've easily AT LEAST placed pattern shapes (since a puncher or scissors might be too much of a liability [oh, don't even get me started on that crap]) but nope... everything comes pre-cut and there's no extra colored paper to do anything else than what you've been given. I guess you could make EVERYTHING yourself, but wouldn't that defeat the purpose of even getting this? It's a good concept, just bad execution... once again. :(
LOLCAT SEZ: PEIPR FAIL!
@Djluckyonline: Jumping to conclusion = FAIL. Second picture apparently shows a puncher and a whole stack of paper for you to cut.
And to verify that:

95 % of what Lego sells is already a predetermined kit of some kind with instructions. The creativity happens despite this and I think it will remain that way even with muji. I think I see a Lego project I could enjoy as much as my son, I hope they get them in US stores soon.
lol I saw the site, silly... lol If you keep scrolling, they sell the hole puncher separately (I don't think they sell you scissors tho). ALL THOSE STACKS OF PAPER (10 sheets) do come precut, and that was my point, a few more sheets of extra un-cut paper would've been a nice and cheap way to shut me up. Also, I really doubt that a bucket o' Legos is predetermined... but I hope you and your son really enjoy the USD$39.39 kit. I'm sure he'll be able to tell the difference between the designer version and the ones he probably already has at home.
Agreeing with Dj. Appears that most of these cute little critters could be made out of paper and the Legos you already (should) own.
Why is this a bad thing? Seems like a no brainer DIY more than a stage to complain... personally, I think the idea rocks and I'll be more than happy to rip it off $0 style!
By DIY, you're agreeing with the idea that this isn't the best alternative. :)
awesome collab!
Ahhh, you aren't a scrapbooker. The possibilities are endless with a little creativity :) This is awesome and a great way for kids (and adults) to build even more things from those wonderful little colored blocks!
@Djluckyonline: The stack of 10 colored paper comes in pre-cut holes, not pre-cut shapes. You can cut any shapes you want. The holes are pre-cut, apparently because they don't include the hole puncher there, which is, another $12 of course.
There's nothing wrong with it including another stack of paper of pre-designed shapes. It helps kids kick-start what possibilities there can be. After that, they can cut whatever they want. Besides, I doubt any of us were building Lego with paper before, which means they are pretty creative and clever to come up with this.
There's also nothing wrong with buying the kit just to get the right Lego pieces. I don't have any Legos with me right now, but I do have a laser cutter for paper, so I don't need a puncher or a pair of scissors. :)
