Lego Zoetrope

Chad Mealey posts his Lego constructions on Flickr under the handle Lego Tron, and he has outdone himself with his Lego zoetrope. The zoetrope is an early pre-cinematic device that consists of a cylinder and sequenced images (usually drawings, but in this case it's little Lego men); as the zoetrope turns it creates the illusion of movement. Lego Tron made one out of Legos and it really works. Check out his video after the jump.

At the end of this clip Lego Tron challenges viewers to build a better Lego-trope.

Who wants to try? This is a great activity for Lego lovers and an excellent lesson in physics, light and vision.
