When I photographed Leif's apartment back in June, I fell in love with the little collection of scale model mid-century ranch houses displayed in his living room. The little houses were more than models to Leif, though. The miniature homes were Leif's attempt to manifest his dream — ownership of a life-size version of one. And wouldn't you know it — it worked!
To make his dream of living in a mid-century home come true, Leif had two options. He could hunt down Wayne Szalinski and implore him to use his Honey, I Shrunk the Kids technology to miniaturize Leif so he can live in one of the models. Or he could find a life-size version of his mid-century dream home. Luckily, it was easier to do the latter.
In fact, finding the life-size home was much easier. Somewhat on a lark, Leif called his real estate agent about a listing for a 1950's ranch house he saw online. He wasn't really serious about buying, he was just curious about what sounded like a great deal. Well it was love at first viewing and, at the end of the month, Leif will be closing on the little mid-century beauty pictured here. And you can bet I'll be right behind him begging for another house tour!
