- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- I love the all the original 1920s features in the room. We just uncovered the tiled hearth a couple of months ago when replacing the carpet, and even though it's not in perfect condition it was way too cool to cover up again. So many houses of this age were destroyed in the Christchurch earthquakes, I feel lucky that we can enjoy and preserve these features for future generations.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- To be honest, I'm not that tidy or organised, but having put so much effort into renovating the room makes me more motivated to keep it tidy. My partner Cory and I have done everything in this room ourselves, including reinstating the fireplace, making the curtains and our first attempt at wallpapering which I am incredibly proud of.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- The big comfortable chair in the corner is ideal for curling up in to read or just relax in. I make the most of the bedroom by having lots of things I love in it, like the leather case which was given to my grandfather before he went away to the war and the lamb vase on the shelf which belonged to my grandmother.

Beautiful! This is how I imagine my place to look and feel like . I'm motivated to work on it some more to make it feel like this.
Beautiful wallpaper and luxurious linens. Nice.
That wallpaper is gorgeous. I really love the idea of the candles surrounded by glass. Your room feels really restful and calming - but luxurious too with that wallpaper and the beautiful bedding.
That wallpaper is stunning. And can I ask about your bedding?
This isn't my style, but I love the rustic-yet-lush feeling I get from looking at these photos. There's some "shabby chic," some "glitz and glam," and a lot of antique flair. I saved the photo of the candles/bottles for later - they're displayed so beautifully!
This is really lovely, fresh with nice quirky touches, and very relaxing, you did a fantastic job.
Wow, thank you for all the lovely comments! The wallpaper is a "paste the wall" type, I was really surprised at how easy it was to hang and would recommend anyone to give it a go even if you have never wallpapered before. The linen was from Bed, Bath and Beyond some time ago, sorry I don't remember any more details.
Yay. First post I've seen from New Zealand.
neat! =)
So many lovely details here. Like others, I especially appreciate the wallpaper and the candles and glass. I think you'd have even more votes if you had photographed the windows to show what appears to be gorgeous leaded glass on top.
