Name: Leo (2)
Location: Alameda, CA
Leo's room used to be the guest room. In fact, when Leo was born five weeks early it still was the guest room. And it still had guests in it. I had planned to use that last month of pregnancy to get his room ready, but that was not to be.
The only preparation I had done was to paint the room. My husband did the majority of it, but I hand drew the design on the feature wall. The rest of the room was thrown together about a month after Leo was born. Everything you see in this room was handed down from Leo's big brother, or pulled in from another room.
My intention was to just get something done, and to add to it later when I had the time. But the simplicity of the room grew on me. And it has remained in its original state since.

Ahh, this is a soothing room. And I appreciate the relaxed approach, one that I was forced to have as well due to circumstances at the birth of our child. My type-a personality wanted so badly to design my baby's room to the nth degree before she was born but after a two years her room -- also a guest room -- has evolved from her instead. It is a very different place than what I had planned to foist upon her -- it is more peaceful, more relaxed, more her, less me.
So refreshing! I love this room and that you describe it as being thrown together. It makes it seem so much more comfortable and inviting for a little one this way. Nice one!
I dig the gnomes!
