We went to IKEA a few weekends ago (to check out the Kulla lamp, which we liked much more in white than the red we blogged originally) and flipped over the LERAN pendant in the super size (24", $89.99).
The scale of the lamp is the key to what makes it so interesting. It really is impressively oversize in person and is somewhat reminiscent of the really big Noguchi paper lanterns - it has the same combination of natural materials and giant scale.
Priced well for a green "chandelier alternative", the Leran is handwoven from bamboo and rattan with a natural palm oil finish.
We know its only a matter of time until we see one of these over a Saarinen tulip table...
Available (in store only) at IKEA.
