Name: Lexy, Erin and Chad
Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Room Size: 13' x 7'
Sweet and serene - little Lexy sure has a dreamy room! The ice blue color contrast with white, pink and the light hard wood floors leaves you feeling like you are floating in the sky. Lexy's mom Erin did a fantastic job designing the room. Such a bold, bold move to paint the whole room blue - I am not sure I would be that brave - so hopefully she will give some of you idea seekers a boost of confidence when picking out your nursery color. As the Dutch say "Slaap lekker"!!! (Sleep well!)
How would you describe the look and feel of this room?
Clean and contemporary but warm. Inspiration - the Dutch sky on a beautiful day.
What is your favorite piece or element?
The paint color in contrast with the pink, mesh butterflies hanging from the ceiling.
What was the biggest challenge decorating this room?
Making a little girl’s room sweet yet serene without too much use of the color pink. We also tried to make the space feel bigger than it really is – it a pretty long and narrow room and we needed it to hold a wardrobe, crib, changing table, rocking chair and small play area.
What do your friends say about the room?
“A sweet space for a little girl”.
Do you have any advice for parents creating a room for their child?
Start with a color that you really love and work towards a feeling that you would like the room to evoke. We wanted our baby to be feel very calm and peaceful while in her nursery.
If money were no object, what's your dream source?
