Liam's Yellow & Grey & Red Room

My Room

Name: Liam (5 months)
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

As soon as I found out that my second child was going to be a boy I knew I wanted to use yellow and grey in his nursery. As I was designing the room I felt like it needed something more so I decided to add in pops of red. I think the red makes everything more interesting and keeps things feeling fresh.

I'm not really into themed nurseries but I do like to have an overall cohesive idea so I used airplanes to tie things together; which is fitting since the grandpa that Liam is named after was a pilot.
I'm a big fan of handmade touches in any space so you'll see lots of things in the room that I made. The L above the crib was made using vintage encyclopedia pages that I rolled together. I also made the mobile using a kids bike wheel, red baker's twine and scrapbook paper folded into tiny paper airplanes. My husband and I framed a tiny heart made from our thumbprints. I also tried my hand at those yellow chevron curtains and I'm so happy with how they turned out!

The crib bumper, skirt and quilt were made by my mother and sister as a baby gift for Liam. The colors in the quilt really pop against the black crib. I love the Jenny Lind crib not only because it's very affordable but it also adds to the vintage vibe of the space.

I chose artwork that didn't feel too 'baby' in the hopes that we can use it as he gets older. When I spotted the ABC poster at IKEA I just knew it was perfect for the space, adding just the right amount of red.

It was very rewarding designing Liam's room and I hope it is a room that he will enjoy for years to come!
