What a month! I can't believe how quickly the month has gone by as I find myself completing the last week of the January Cure. There are still some things on my list for my apartment, and I will share as I tackle future projects, but this task oriented list has me started and on a good schedule to keep making my home more me and more comfortable and enjoyable. Here is what I worked on this week.
Day 19: Catch Up Day.
Changing out my old pillows with something new went a long way toward refreshing my living room area.
Day 20: Hang That Artwork.
I had had a food related image that I have wanted to hang in my kitchen for quite some time, so I finally got the ladder out and hung it up. I like how it brightens the neutral room but without taking up too much visual space in my small kitchen.
Day 21: Spruce Up and Surface Clean.
Cleaning is never fun (for me) but now that the clutter is gone, it is so much easier to keep my space clean. Putting effort into your home is also a good motivator to keeping it clean. It may not be perfect, but it never will be and that is ok. The Alessi Nuvem Wire Basket looks better with something other than remote controls in it, but that is for another day.
Now that it is cleaned out a bit though — dusting and mopping is less of a chore.
Day 22: Shop For Get Together Goodies.
I am not a huge cook, so I am more likely to put together a little cheese plate if a guest is coming by rather than make a meal. In this case, I wanted to make something a little special since my guest was past House Tour participant (and pastry chef) Mark, whose colored filled home is an inspiration to me and who baked a lovely cake for the day of the tour which I was lucky enough to get to enjoy after our photo shoot was finished.
Day 23: Pat Yourself on the Back, Relax and Celebrate!
This is definitely the best part of cleaning and re-organizing your home. WIth a clean slate, baking felt less overwhelming to me, and having guests in my home feels relaxing.

Shaw's Original Fir...
your couch!! I'm in love.
Question for Liana. Could you tell me the artist that painted the piece about your couch?
I have a large painting that is quite similar and I do not know the artists info. Thanks!
I am also wondering about the slip cover on the couch...I love the look - does it have a specific name when the edges are done like that? They sort of look raw or unfinished and I would love a cover like that for my couch. The painting is beautiful too. I love yellow, its my favorite pop of color to use....your post was good too by the way!
@moriah rose: I think the edges on the couch cushions are called knife-edges. Pottery Barn does a couch in that.
Thanks for the compliments!
@pirjo111: The painting is by Michelle Armas
@moriah rose: The couch and slip cover are from Crate and Barrel, its the Oasis and is very comfortable - just in case you are looking for a couch, though it did have to be cut in half by a professional to get into the apartment building!
Thanks Liana!
