In the second week of my January Cure, my goal of removing clutter from my home is (nearly) complete. I wanted to get items put away that were lingering on the floors and covering my table in the dining room, as holiday things and new projects had been accumulating. I was really missing having the space to pull out my yoga mat and stretch on a whim, so now that the clutter is gone (or tucked away) I am able to breathe easier in my living room — Luna likes it too. Here is how we got here:
Day 4: Get a Fresh Perspective in Just 10 Minutes.
I had been letting things get out of control on my dining room table. Usually a clean and calm place where I like to sit and work, it had become a place where unopened mail, gifts, newspapers and the like had all gathered together to make one big mess. Surprisingly, it only took me about 10 minutes to get the space cleared off. Much like Abby's New Year's Resolution: "Do it now," just doing it without any more procrastination was all it took.
Day 5: Select One Project from Your List to Complete this Month.
Okay, so it's the middle of January, but the time just seems to fly by and I had not yet taken down any holiday decorations or cards I had up around the house. I chose from my list "Take down holiday items."
Day 6: Choose a Piece of Artwork & Get Going on Framing It.
Last year when I photographed a Store Profile on Stewart/Stand in Dumbo, I couldn't resist buying one of their beautiful printed papers — it was a steal at just $4. I headed to Ikea and bought a frame, and now the piece feels more special and I was finally able to put it up.
Day 7: Get Your Get - Together Together - Date, Guests, Invites.
Now that my table is cleared and I can actually work on it, that means that I was able to actually have friends over to the house again. We made homemade pizza, enjoyed some wine and watched old movies — a perfect low-key evening. It was nice to have guests at my home again.
Day 8: Weekend Chores - Flowers, Kitchen Cleaning & Make Yourself a Meal.
After my get together, my kitchen needed quite the cleaning. Luckily my friends were kind enough to help me and everything was taken care of, from the dishes to taking out the trash.
In addition to taking care of your home, it is important to take care of yourself. After another week of the January Cure, I visited the local health food store for a fresh vegetable drink to sip on, congratulated myself on what I have done so far, and took stock of what I have next on my list.

To be continued!
