A generation ago our parents set the kitchen timer and a generation before that their parents just hollered a countdown. Ah, but we're in the digital age living with digital tools. The Lickety Split app tries to make chores like making the bed or tasks like teeth brushing more fun for kids by turning them into beat-the-clock and count down scenarios. What do you think; is an app like this useful or overkill? I haven't used it myself but it seems like one simple improvement would be to let the parent type in their own task in addition to the pre-programmed ones. One of the countdown choices is "take turns" - I can see that getting a lot of use with siblings. The fast-paced classical music selections used as a background are pretty fun. You can read more about Lickety Split in the iTunes store or check out a video here. It currently costs .99.
