I used two of these bulbs as task lights at a table in my kitchen. At first the light seemed much dimmer but I became aware that the Energy Smart bulb illuminated the whole room better than the incandescent bulb.
Control Bulb: General Electric Soft White 60W
Primary Use: Overhead or high detail task light
Time of Day Tested: 9:30 a.m.
How It Performed: The color is definitely different with this compact florescent bulb. It seems lighter and cooler than the control bulbs were. One notable difference is that the butter no longer melts under the task light because the Energy Smart bulb burns much cooler than the incandescent. The fixture was always hot to the touch when I turned it off before. That is not the case anymore with the new bulbs.
The bulbs were easy to find at Amazon.com, shipped quickly and were at my door in several days.
