Aunts, uncles, great-uncles, grandparents, cousins— I come from a family overflowing with electricians! Even my father worked as an electrician before earning his architecture degree thirty-something years ago, so it's safe to say that I've spent my life surrounded by people to whom basic lighting changes come easily. For the rest of us, who can't install a dimmer switch or rewire a lamp in their sleep, I've gathered a group of practical, easy-to-follow lighting tutorials.
A Quick Reminder
It's important to take all necessary safety precautions when working on electrical projects. Use rubber handled tools to prevent electrical shock (You can even make your own with Plasti Dip, which we've featured here and here!) and consider investing in a non-contact voltage detector if you plan to change fixtures and switches frequently.
