I don't have this shape but i have a simillarly constructed/materials ikea bed and i bought it off craigslist 8 years old and its a champ. I just painted it gloss red and it nice and sturdy.

I don't have this exact bed but I do have a similar king size ikea bed made from the same materials. So far it is great- very sturdy, and our temprepedic mattress is heavier than standard matresses.

DahliaCactus - what paint/process did you use to paint your bed? I like this one but would love it in white or another fun color.

I'm going to be getting this bed. In the store it seems quite sturdy, although I can't say yet how it'll hold up after regular use, of course.

I've had a very similar bed (perhaps the 'previous model' or an earlier incarnation of the same design - the only real difference is that there's nothing at the foot of the bed) for a couple of years, and although I love that it holds a box spring, it is a serious squeaker-creaker - couples beware. I don't think it's going to stand up to being moved this summer (or that I will stand for moving it).

I saw this bed online and fell in love with it. In person it was another story. The sample bed they had displayed was rickety and made a little "Riii Riii Riii" sound when I moved around on it. In the end I decided to go with a more sturdy bed...a good idea if you live somewhere with thin walls.

Crazy.

I just moved into a room facing Prospect Park and it came with this frame (in queen size) and a mattress together. To be honest I wasn't too sure about it, perhaps because I prefer wood and such, but it's growing on me.

Laptop work can be awkward because of the bars, but I've made it work. Quite sturdy and quiet.

No complaints whatsoever.

I have this bed and its great, the svorka midbeem i believe its called takes out any creekiness and it looks great

My fiance and I JUST bought this bed yesterday. It was super easy to set up and much sturdier than expected. I can't imagine needing to replace/fix it for years. It is so stinkin fabulous for our apartment also. I am super pleased :) Especially with the price :)

I know this is super-old, but just in case someone reads the archives looking for advice on this bed, I got it a year ago and truly love it! I have a black duvet and plum sheets with colorful rainbow-y pillows. Mine doesn't squeak at all. It's a great frame, great price, great style.

This is really helpful as I'm currently fawning over this bed online! I previously had an similar style bed (it had a curved iron though on the headboard and footboard..circa 2002-ish). I craigslist'd it and got the Ikea Hopen frame two years ago which I love as well, although a pain to put together (major understatement!). Now I'm in the market to replace my current full size Hopen with a queen and new frame and after reading reviews I'm 99.9% sure this is what I'm coming home with. Gotta love AT for posts like this!
