Name: Lily Grace
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
When we found out we were having a girl, I wasn’t sure how I was going to decorate her room. I struggled transitioning from the bold colors and indestructible transportation vehicles I was used to with her older brother.
I knew I wanted something cute and comfortable, but that was the extent of it. For quite some time our daughter’s room had a neutral green color scheme with a few splashes of pink and consisted of just the essentials (a crib, changing table, dresser, and a rocking chair).
As our daughter, Lily, has grown into a toddler, I have tweaked her room to fit her growing interests and individuality. Our daughter has a fun-loving and playful personality that led to the whimsical style of her room. She enjoys books and our nighttime readings, so we established a little reading corner with a rocking chair, bookshelves and a lamp. She loves to do things on her own, so our storage solutions are kid-friendly with everyday items (her clothes, shoes, toys and books) within her reach.
At a year old, the birds chirping outside her window fascinated our daughter. It inspired me to bring some semblance of nature into her room. I’ve had fun incorporating bird, butterfly and owl accessories into her décor. The fabric chandelier, mirror and butterfly decals adorning the changing area were purposely-planned distractions to encourage an easier diaper change. I love how her room has evolved into a personalized space she enjoys!
