We've all heard of the wonderful Ork Posters that depict neighborhoods from all over the country. There's a new game in town and they're offering up an alternate way to show how much you appreciate the city you live in.
LouellaPress are based out of suburban Philadelphia and self described lovers of letterpress and design. They've created unique 8x10 letterpress that represent Philadelphia in the best of ways. Even better for those non-Philly residents out there &mdash they didn't discriminate against the NYC and LA folks!
Available for purchase are hand pressed 2-color letterpress for Philadelphia, New York City, Manhattan and Los Angeles. We love that the Philadelphia has a crack going down the center that pays homage to the Liberty Bell, the New York City print shows Lady Liberty herself, Manhattan is covered in rats and Los Angeles is soft and feminine for the City of Angels.
Besides the city prints, LouellaPress also designed and printed neighborhood prints for Philadelphia and New York. Philadelphia has two neighborhood prints, ranging from the Main Line to suburban towns running along the R5.
Each print is available from the LouellaPress Etsy store for $25.

This is the most excited I've been about anything for a long time. Surprising that there isn't one for Chicago ... I'd grab that in a second. Looks like I'll have to put my creativity hat on.
They don't have a Brooklyn stand alone either -- but Ork does!
These are great, and the Philly crack is really clever.
I'm a big fan of letterpress - these pieces are so clever & gorgeously designed! I like to use outdated maps to create city specific cartography cut out art: http://papercutworks.blogspot.com/2010/04/she-hearts-austin-tx-by-papercutworks.html
Milwaukee please!
At the risk of sounding like a negative butthead today, I really can't wait until the whole WORDS as art thing wanes. Pedestrian art for people who don't want to feel feelings.
As a native New Jerseyian and current Jersey City resident, it kind of irks me that no one ever remembers that the Statue of Liberty is in New Jersey, not New York. But I love the prints anyway. ;)
I received my Los Angeles Ork poster last week and love it! Just need to frame and hang!
Unbeknownst to me, my brother bought the NY and SF ones!
Why doesn't anybody make a St. Louis poster/card?! It's a great city, too!
Can't wait to find a Baltimore print like this! And I have to say that words as art isn't simply a phase. For those of us who love words and language and literature, this kind of print is very appealing. Even if it isn't your thing, why criticize the taste of others? I can't imagine that words wouldn't ever be a way to express one's feelings, in addition to all other forms of expression.
I wish the LA one had something else to it, like the other ones.
I love letterpress, though, and her shop is fun!
@PennyZ928: I totally agree with everything you said.
Now, I'm a person who likes the Keep Calm and Carry On posters and don't care how many I see, because I feel like if you appreciate the sentiment, and it makes you FEEL something, then great. Rock on. Who cares if someone else happens to find it pedestrian or repetitive or what not?
The great thing is that everyone is allowed to like different things.
thanks so much guys! we have about 10 new cities in the works right now and will be live in our shop in about 3 weeks. check back soon!! and thanks for the feature today :)

@PennyZ928: This is a forum for opinion no?
It's always a surefire way to get people to buy your 'art', appeal to their inane sense of pride regarding their specific geographic location. *snooze*
@jacksonlalonde: Yay opinions! Thanks for the polite reminder.
Sounds like the issue of what defines "art" could be the subject of a whole different post. I actually am drawn to most art that showcases letters or words just because I love letters and words. For me, it has less to do with hometown pride.
these are great! NOW will Philly finally get it's own page on AT??
Love these! Especially love the Philly one with the crack.
Great idea, and as a former resident of Philadelphia, I'm especailly excited. ...However, I wish the beautiful neighborhood of West Philly had not been left off the list. Once that's added, I will be all over these prints! Someone above mentioned that maybe Brooklyn needs its own poster. Certainly. And I think West Philly could hold its own, too, along with several other Philly neighborhoods. Keep up the great work!
Here's the link to the neighborhoods print that I'm talking about: http://www.etsy.com/listing/45691685/neighborhood-philadelphia-hoods
Any idea what font/typeface they are using? It's very elegant.
