In the past few weeks, we've brought you information on the near sale of Richard Neutra's Kaufmann House (lower left) and BarberOsgerby's Iris tables at Established & Sons (upper right). Both represent a newer phenomenon in "design-art" — a grey area that transforms original historic designs and new, limited edition furniture into high-priced collectibles for the evolving art world. In a new piece for The International Herald Tribune, Alice Rawsthorn looks into who is responsible for the change and how she thinks it will evolve...

Also pictured are Cleaning Beauty Dining Table and Stools, designed by Studio Makkink & Bey (upper left) and Studio Job's Robber Barron Table for Moss.

A quick, interesting read for design fiends : Whatever 'design-art' is, it's thriving. Also, be sure to check out the slideshow that looks at thirteen examples of design-art. Via: unbiege.
