Lincoln's in the Hizzouse: Presidential Portraits Gone Mod

Not to get all Ken Burns on you, but I'm a bit of a history geek, and this past fall we featured a modern take on a George Washington portrait, which got me thinking about modern interpretations of classic Americana. I know, I'm a blast at a party. Anyway, since Lincoln's birthday is February 12 and President's Day is coming up too, let's start with the mod presidential portrait.

I've heard stories of people's grandparents (usually grandma) hanging a portrait of JFK next to a picture of the Pope, and of course there was Shepard Fairey's Obama poster, but other than those examples, I can't say that I've known anyone who's had any type of presidential portrait displayed in their home. I wondered, what kind of U.S. president-related decorative art is being made and are people buying it? Based on my findings, it looks like there is some interesting work out there.

So, would you buy a pillow or art print of a favorite president for your home? My dad really digs Lincoln, but I can't see him hanging up a Lincoln print. I, on the other hand, could see incorporating a smaller version of the Lincoln screen print featured above into our home. But I wouldn't hang it next to a picture of the Pope.
