Name: Lindsey Pollard, Retake Director on Family Guy
Location: San Rafael Hills - Pasadena, California
Size: 1800 square feet
Years lived in: 3 years
Lindsey was living in a small house in Silver Lake when her realtor found her current home in the San Rafael Hills. The house was larger than what she was looking for, but it had so many positive things going for it; including good value, an older community, plenty of peace and quiet quiet and mainly, a beautiful view.

One of my favorite features of Lindsey's beautiful home is the open indoor/outdoor layout. The kitchen, living room, and guest room all open up to the outdoor area and have a view of the pool and the city. Her outdoor landscaping and decor reminds me of the midcentury modern style of Palm Springs - the butterfly chairs around the fire pit, the bright prints, and the desert plants. Lindsey loves to relax with a book, while taking in the sun rays on the weekend - a pretty idyllic scene in a lovely spot. I can see why she loves her home so much, both indoors and out!

Shaw's Original Fir...
Gorgeous and fun.
I really love it. This is one of the first tours in a long time that made me feel like I could just pack a suitcase and move right in.
What a beautiful, personal, warm, liveable, fun house. All class, no pretension. Nice.
I LOVE this. First house tour in a while that has really grabbed me. Beautiful job, Lindsey!
That ceiling in your living room--wow!
Textiles and ceramics are fabulous. Color and pattern ala Frida Kahlo.
wow, what an amazing home. Such a fun aesthetic and so home-y. First tour in a long time that has appealed to me.
Absolutely GORGEOUS!
Yay to the Canadian mitts. :-)
Just a string of great house tours lately! I really love the fabrics in this one. On the couches and chairs. Everything looks really comfortable. I'm also digging on what looks like glass wall tile in the bathroom. I'll have to remember that when I'm ready to replace the old pink tile in mine. Great house.
This house is wonderful! So many great ideas here.
Love it, and what a nice change from the grayish MCM aesthetic of a lot of these tours. That bedroom looks so relaxing, it just makes me want to curl up and take a nap :)
I cannot explain, what it is, but this is really touching, characteristic and personal, one of the best tours since a long, best wishes from Cologne!
I agree with the other commenters: This is the first tour in a while that's really grabbed me. So much color without being too crazy--and quirky, interesting pieces that don't look contrived and trendy.
I would be quiet after 9 too if I got to live in that great home! So warm and cozy. The dogs are really cute too. :)
So much color! I love it all! The bathrooms tile walls are so cool, very unique way of using them.
@GreenLadyPants: ditto. California house tours are lovely to look at, but they're uninspiring to me as an East Coast apartment renter.
ridiculously stylish. total LA style. love.
@greenladypants-- y, u jealous??
This reminds me of some fantastic retreats in the Mojave desert. Love the warmth and color and garden and and and......
Dear Lindsey,
I'm really jealous of you right now. Amazing house, and I wish my husband would let me use that many colors!
Sincerely,
Me
Oh Lindsey your home is lovely! Such great color, and patterns that all work well together. I'm jealous of Californians who have such amazing and plentiful resources for vintage furniture and accents, especially mid-century. Your place is wonderful!
What a lovely home ,I love the colours .
beautiful colour palette! especially love the book organization and little lamp in the bathroom
I find the use of color and texture throughout this home very appealing. The light is lovely too. Nice job Lindsey.
I don't even know what to say about that wonderful sofa and wonderful everything. Finally, someone who knows not to paint all the woodwork white - bravo!
Wonderful! I agree it's the first house tour that's really grabbed me in a while.
This house looks so comfortable and interesting the owner must be a fun and fascinating person.
I owe a debt of gratitude to Brian for making me a better parent. While I was sternly lecturing my adolescent son on filling his brain with tasteless, offensive trash, insisting that Family Guy was not even funny, Brian totally cracked me up with the most hilarious moment in tv ever. There is nothing more tasteless than dictating "taste" to others, even your own children. Thank you Family Guy makers.
I too love the ps karljohan... so sad to only get 2 before they stopped carrying them everywhere. :(
Lots of really nice things, especially textiles and upholstery.
Beautiful, feminine home. The colour, the textile, splendid.
warm, bright colorful and unique - i lREALLY love it!!!!!
I , too, love the colors and textiles and wish I had that ability to pull it together. I have never wanted to move to Calif. but I am envious of the beautiful outdoor spaces . So well done!
i love the colors throughout, but especially in the living room. i would love to know more about the sofa, if possible...
This is one of my all time favorites. Lindsey, you did an amazing job.
The color is magnificent and it all works together. It's so lovely with the California light coming in and how you kept the background nice a pale to show off all the textile colors. Really a lovely home. And the dogs are adorable, too.
Wow - love this home. One of my favorites. I love your couches and the way you covered the bottom cushions. Love the textiles/fabrics and the ceramics - love the bright, white walls and the wood. Great job. Thanks for sharing:)
oh Lindsey, you are so talented! I just love your color sense, your whimsy, your cool collections not to mention your adorable dogs!! I want to move in with you as soon as possible!! WOW! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
what a beautiful home. I love all the textiles and colors. great inspiration for a snowy Maine day.
total home envy/inspiration, thanks for sharing. what is the source for the "Today is a Good Day" hanging, please?
I love that it looks like a person actually lives there. I find this tour nice change from the impossibly cramped NYC apartments that are so often featured
I love your style and the color accents!!
Maybe Apartment Therapy should add (bring back) regions as a search option for people looking for something more familiar or particular to their area. Personally, I like seeing homes from all over the country- so many unique styles- but I appreciate the breakdown between apartments and houses, especially when I'm looking for a solution particular to my small space.
ps. I love your house, Lindsey! I am equally drawn toward homes with very little and lots of color and yours is a great example of the warmth and good humor that the latter can evoke. It is bright and cheerful, not jarring. So well done.
this house is amazing. I love how the art and furnishings integrate so wonderfully to create a happy atmosphere. Love the colors and textures against the stark white walls...
I love the art on the walls!
Everything about this place is warm and inviting and lovely. I love it.
Technicolor Dreamhouse! Awesome.
Yes to everything in this house! This is the look I have been searching for.I have a huge love for mid century stuff with this cozy feel. I NEED the man and woman planters and the giant pouf.First time I did not hate white paint.
I can't believe she's only been there three years. Looks like a well loved, well lived in space. Beautiful. Love that she's not afraid to mix patterns and colors, old with new. I could totally live here.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, AT for continuing to feature homes from all parts of the country (and world). Inspiration is everywhere and can be gathered from afar as well as around the corner.
Lindsey's home is stunning...easy, comfortable, classy and stylish. You've done a fantastic job exercising restraint but also filling it with the things you love. Everything fits, everything works. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
First off- you are sooo f n adorable and your dogs are frickin cute and i love your house! this has got to be one of my favorite posts!!!!
Just smiles, lots of smiles, for colors, textures, and personality. This is a home that doesn't take itself seriously, one done for personal satisfaction rather than for show. I think that's why it's so warm and inviting.
Happy, bright and fun without being cutesy. You have a lovely home; thanks for sharing it.
Thank you, Ms. Pollard, for sharing. Loved every inch of detail-placement of objects, consideration of light, textures, colors, etc. One of my favorites. m
This is fantastic! This house has everthing, Ikea, vintage, color, white, dogs, stuff! I love the fact that the kitchen isn't some overdone granite and stainless thing- I am so over that look and this kitchen looks like it matches the rest of the house. And I am in serious envy of that front porch!
You have marvelous taste and such a beautiful house! Thank you for the house tour. : )
This home is interesting, inviting and very pleasing to see. I like the variety of fabrics. The folk doll pillow is darling. Where did you get the "Today is a Good Day" wall hanging?
this is one of the most wonderful house tours i have ever seen!
Great use of color and pattern! love all of it, so beautiful :D
Fun, lived in, creative space.
Love the fact that this is a real HOME and not a staged home with super high end everything, and hired designer behind it. A genuine, happy space that truly reflects a sweet caring (maybe unflappable ) personality. I don't know the homeowner, but sometimes you can tell these things by how someone creates a home for themselves, family, friends, and pets. It feels like you could walk in, pet the dogs, kick off your shoes, admire the place, grab a piece of fruit and relax while the homeownder makes you a cup of tea.
Love that big pouf !
love the use of mid-century in a homey, inviting way. the textiles are scrumptious, the layers of color and pattern are brilliant.
the porch is lovely, too.
great post.
There is so much to look at and yet it feels completely harmonious - I love it. I would like to curl up on the couch and feast on the place right now. B & B?
Lindsey - trop belle!
Love the textiles!
Gorgeous home. Especially love the architecture and all the quilts/throws.
I love all of your beautiful fabrics! The large rose chairs, gorgeous quilts, pillows. Just stunning! This looks like a house that is full of love. Well done.
SOOOOO refreshing to not see MCM ALL the time. Love your place and love the Pasadena Hills.
*Head planters source PLEASE*
You've Got Style! Totally unique. I love the way you mix white with gorgeous color.
Thanks everyone for all the kind comments!
The "Today is a Good Day" hanging is a linen tea towel that my friend purchased from a store in Vancouver called Much & Little (http://muchandlittle.com/). The company that makes them can be found here: http://studiopatro.com/tea-towels
The man and woman bust planters are from Floral Art in Venice: http://www.floralartla.com/
The multi-talented Fi Campbell (http://stillsets.com/) should be listed under the Artwork category--she made the ceramic acorn vase shown in photo #35 and the hand coasters in photo #28. She is also responsible for the garden design.
What a beautiful home! My only criticism is that it's not mine (sigh).
i did want to say that i loved that acorn vase -- lots of small wonderful details
I noticed your owls tucked away throughout the tour. You might like my cousins etsy store. She is working on an owl collection right now of pillows. She is making me a custom one to match my living room.
Here is her etsy link: http://www.etsy.com/listing/90298092/medium-polar-fleece-owl-plushy-valentine
You can also find her on FB. Her FB page is Studio Calvin
by the way..i feel the same as many others....just a wonderful house tour. i would love to sit down on that couch and chat with you and pet your dog!
I love this sooooooo much! Is this my home? I love everything in it. Where is that ottoman from? I love your taste!
Such good timing! I bought a David Weidman print yesterday and was looking for framing ideas. Lovely house.
Hands down my favorite AT house tour. It's so cozy, comfy, casual, and, above all, so personal. Well done, Lindsey!!
The colors immediately grabbed me. Lovely!
I love your house so warm and inviting not torn apart and reconfigured into something it wasn't meant to be. I love the fact that the art list in your resource list is longer than anything else listed. This is a real home. Thanks for sharing.
At the risk of sounding repetitive, I love this tour also! The white walls, woodwork and bright pops of color are fantastic. And I agree, I could curl up on the pouf and take a nap...
One of the more captivating and charming SoCal tours in recent memory. Love what you are doing with pattern and color. Especially love how you have wrapped sofa cushions with attractively patterned blankets--a great approach to keeping things looking smart/fresh... esp when pet and other mess making mammals (e.g., kids) are in the picture.
We have the EXACT same taste in vintage light fixtures. :)
I loved this tour, and it was great to see a "regular" kitchen with average appliances and laminate countertops.
I just love these California homes. But especially this one. That lounge area is perfection. And the elevated garden filled with seating and succulents is an oasis. Warm and inviting with style that doesn't bow to trends. Individuality achieved.
Lovely!!! I had to take a tour three times.
Very Old California looking. Loved the wood paneling in the kitchen.
