Name: Lisa Bush, owner of Mona Moore, and Scott Vineberg, business designer
Location: Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles, California
Size: 3,000 square feet
Years lived in: 6 years
When I first found Lisa and Scott's super cool industrial space in the hills of Topanga, I knew I just had to photograph their home. Then as we were talking, Lisa mentioned that Barbara Bestor designed the house for them. I was completely sold! It is a very modern industrial home, where the exposed steel frame becomes a kind of art and the landscape and views are a part of the design.

What I found really interesting about Lisa and Scott's decor choices is that they live with what they love instead of following design rules. How about a floral sofa in a home with concrete floors? I approve! And if the architecture and the view aren't enough, their artwork really completes the space. There is a major story behind the painting of the man in the living room — anyone know who he is? All in all, cool couple, fantastic house, stunning view — all making me consider Topanga Canyon as a new Sunday hangout.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Favorite element - that awesome lap pool and the view!!!! Okay, I give, who's the guy in the picture?
Scott Vineberg
I Love this house, it really looks like someone lives there, which is refreshing. I love their books, and they are not anally tidy. Would the man in the picture be Dustin Hoffman.?
Bet that pool becomes a great water hole for animals at night...any black bears come for a dip?
I kind of love the pink bathtub.
Love it! It looks so cozy and NOT sterile which you see so much of. Enjoy those views!
For territorial views, these I like.
Love some of the elements found within the house, like the celebration of plywood in places like in the kitchen and bath cabinets
Love the moderness of the space, but not some of the other elements, such as the flowery sofas, the pink marble, they, to me at least don't jibe with the rest of the space, which has a bit of a cool feel to it, perfect for the area where this house is, but yet it has more of a cozy feel to it than many places that aspire to this kind of decor.
Great place!
jealous!
I would like to know who the art is by in the bedroom.
Beautiful house I would never leave durning the day.
This is gorgeous and inspiring. I especially like that of all the shots of photo 5 I'm sure you took, you chose the one with dog butt. +1.
LOVE me some Topanga Cyn!! And what an amazing space!! Seriously, of all the canyons in the Santa Monica mountains, Topanga is by far the best. Best little village, shops, restaurants, people and places to live. I must admit, the furnishings really aren't my thang but...This place is beautiful!!
I love your kitchen and dining area. It reminds me of Heath Ceramics.
I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooove the pink marble in the bath so much. The flowered sofa is just terrible yet works in the great space. I am guessing it's really comfy!
Feel cheated not to see her shoe closet though.
Great house! But I'd love to know what the building was before it being repurposed.
I love it. So po-mo. Refreshing.
I am in love with that kitchen/dining area. The countertop is gorgeous and love the butcher block insert. Those stools are amazing and give it a little industrial feel amongst all the woodwork.
My God! That pool! I seriously almost passed right by this tour but I LOVE this space.
I admire the incongrousness of the architecture and furnishings, but I must confess, those sofas are less than attractive.Sorta Miami Beach condo, circa 1986! But other than those,Id move in tommorow.
I'm not a fan of the use of marble in the house, but it must be something they like since it's such a prominent feature. The plywood on the other hand, and those cool looking concrete floors I love. I would have used the concrete or those kinds of color in the places where they have put marble. I envy the views.
So pleased to see this home. Apartment therapy was starting to show so many similar places that it was starting to feel like everyone was somehow related.
Love the house and the individuality of the stuff. Especially like the large painting of Scott (?) - it has so much light warmed atmosphere which is brought into the room.
Thank you for sharing this with us / me.
This is a great house! I especially love the use of plywood throughout. It can be such a beautiful and economical building material.
@Mid-C Frank I don't believe this dwelling was repurposed; the post is clear that it is an architect-designed home.
Is that really sealed plywood woodwork throughout? Pretty ballsy.
Can't say I'm loving the flowered sofas, but on the other hand, bravo for the homeowners but using their heirlooms and not worry about what anybody thinks.
Looks like two separate aesthetics, industrial chic vs tasteful grandmother chintz
Thanks for the comments. So funny the sofas are getting attention, re-covering them has been on the to do list since we inherited them 15+ years ago from Granny Gertrude (Palm Beach, circa 90s, where they looked awesome). Maybe time to get on that. I stand by my cunningly tufted little side chairs though ;)
i'd love information on the construction of the tub. the company who did that should put on a tutorial. what did they line it with? what is the bottom made of [tile? would otherwise major slip hazard.
Refreshing to see a confident house which doesn't give a toss what anyone else thinks. Original, comfortable, quirky and all theirs. Love it.
Beautiful location and house... The furnishings are not to my taste. But to each, his own...
It looks like a wonderful place to live. So open, serene, yet playful. The use of (what looks like really nice) plywood is amazing.
