Your Favorite Thing About Your Outdoor Space: First and foremost, we love the integrated sandbox! The kids love it too. We also love how the light filters through the shadowbox style fence in the late afternoon. It is cozy and intimate.
Biggest Design Challenge With This Space: Cutting the deck around the trees. Making the deck look like it's 'floating.' Deciding what kind of fence to build. We built it from scratch!
Tips for Creating a Great Small Outdoor Space: Make it intimate and cozy. Use natural light to your advantage. Simple accessories such as a couple of pillows and table top decorations make a huge difference!
Thanks, Lisa, and good luck!

I love the way the space provides enjoyment for the entire family together. It definitely promotes the concept of FAMILY.
Love the deck, but feels like it's missing something. I could go from feeling neutral to loving it if there were some more plants -- maybe some splashes of flowers.
What are the issues with having a deck built so low to the ground? I mean what about weeds and other plants growing up from underneath, moisture, etc.
That hole around the tree is going to have to get bigger as the tree does.
Loooove it! My boys would go crazy in a backyard like that (we live in an apartment).
With those two trees on either side I feel like something could be hanging up there over the table like lights or just some kind of garland. Agreed that there is something missing...
I love this space! Looks like a great place to sit back with a glass of wine and be able to keep your eyes on the kids :)
I love this! I'd like to incorporate that into our back yard- but please can you tell me if and how you discourage neighbourhood cats or other animals from using it as their potty? or are their any issues when it rains?
