Saturday saw the first Modern Economy sale in Portland and, yes, we gave up our beauty sleep for the privilege. We managed to meet AT:SF’s illustrious Anh-Minh; chat up some AT fans in line; snag a J. Mendicino pigeon vase; and run into lots of familiar faces (including one from our recent Gilt Club dinner).

Judging from the crowds, the event seemed to be a rousing success, and we hope that Meg will make her way to PDX again soon.
If you attended, what did you think of the sale? Pros? Cons? And, most important, what was the best deal you walked out with?

i went but didn't buy anything. i thought the vases with cutouts were lovely and contemplated getting one as a reserve christmas present for my best friend. i decided against it because it seemed a bit delicate and she has children.
I'm afraid to ask... but how much was that Duffy London chandelier light going for?
Annieo217, that was one of the things I didn't even look at. Maybe someone else checked it out and can help...
annieo217 - I think the Duffy light was 50% off ($225 instead of the usual retail price of $450). And at least one of them sold that afternoon.
Can someone please tell me who makes those beautiful ceramic tiles?
bshore - Xenia Taler is the artist.

I purchased a J. Mendicino vase, 2 boodalee blankets, and some recycled rubber coasters from Josh Jakus. I thought the boodalee blankets were a good deal. (2 for $30). The Cleaners was the perfect venue for the event. Hopefully Modern Economy will come back to Portland next year!
Oh, be still my heart... I've been coveting that Duffy light and I would have bitten the bullet for $250. Any chance they will come to Chicago?
And i forgot to mention the Clothpony clothes were absolutely adorable. It made me wish there were clothes as cute as that when i was a little kid.
