Music is such a central part of childhood and it seems that every day we learn about another app or gadget geared towards kids. The increasing ubiquity of personal listening devices means growing concern about children and noise-induced hearing loss. Listen To Your Buds is a campaign by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association to teach very young kids about safe listening habits.
Since this month is devoted to learning at home, we were excited to find recommendations for parents on the campaign site. Suggestions include keeping volume down, limiting listening time and modeling good listening habits for children. Parents are invited to pledge to protect their child's hearing from loud noise, to teach their children safe music habits and to spread the word about hearing health. Learn more at Listen To Your Buds and teach your family about responsible listening.
