When days like today's Cyber Monday (and recent Black Friday) provide a pervasive view of how people relate to material things, an alternative perspective is always welcome. We can, for example, step into the world of brilliant Chinese artist Liu Bolin— whose work prompts another way of looking at our relationship to the world around us.
Liu Bolin is most known for his camouflage pieces. In these composed photographic works, Bolin meticulously paints his body to blend in with his environment— a kind of Where's Waldo for the intellectual set. In “finding” Bolin, people construe the work as everything from political to environmental. However his work speaks to you, it undoubtedly has the power to inspire some new idea about your place among the physical things that surround you.
