I was dreading and anticipating this weekend for the whole January Cure. In short, my bedroom is a disaster zone. It's where my organizational systems fail first. Also, with just a small closet that barely fits my clothes, there's no space for other stuff. That is, until I did some Outboxing!Part of my clothes storage issue is that I was using half of my eight-drawer dresser for things like craft supplies and extra toiletries. For the task, I decided to reclaim the bottom two of drawers for clothes, keeping the top two for makeup and beauty products. Craft supplies went into clear tubs to be stored in the office/guest room. I tossed old makeup and stuff I haven't worn, and used some desk accessories and random baskets I had lying around to keep it contained inside the drawers.
I also needed a better solution for my jewelry. My necklaces kept getting tangled, and having it shoved in a drawer was doing me no favors. So I made fabric-covered corkboards and hung everything on them with Pinhooks. Now it's a design element that adds color to my walls and keeps everything visible and within reach.
In the process of the bedroom cleanout, I found my closet floor (haven't seen THAT in awhile), and some other fun things, like my high school class ring, a bracelet I bought in Italy, and a neon orange wig.
There are still some major changes I want to make. When the office/guest room is no longer an Outbox explosion, I plan to move my desk in there to make room for a reading nook in my bedroom. Also, I need to paint, badly. But these small victories keep me hopeful along the way.
Have you found anything strange during your weekend cleaning sessions?
