We're a few days away from the end! Since today is a surface clean in prep for the party (and photos of me dusting my bookcases isn't super fun), I thought I'd share a couple of my favorite small transformations from the month, areas that make me smile when I see them.
Since I cleaned the clutter from my closet, I can use this over-the-door hanger not for coats and robes, but to showcase some of my favorite accessories. This is often the first thing I see in the morning, when the light peeks into my bedroom and glints off some sequins. Spying a smile spot when you first wake up starts the day off brilliantly.
In this corner of my kitchen, I had the wine racks catty cornered on the wall, and bags were hanging from the doorknob. I added a Command hook (how did I ever live before Command hooks?!) and tucked the reusable bags inside the larger one. I used to just have the measurements print and the Julia Child art on this wall, but it looked a little naked. I had these breakfast-themed postcards in a drawer (they lived on the wall where the pegboard is before the bookcase was there) and adding them filled out the space. I also found these placemats I had bought forever ago while cleaning out a drawer. Sometimes cleaning is like shopping!
Which spots in your home make you smile?

I love the pictures hanging in my office. They remind me that art reinterprets the world for every passerby. I'm so appreciative of a safe place to live, love, and work. http://wellletsgoforit.blogspot.com/2012/12/safe-travels.html?m=0
This Cure has been so much fun!
love that mini gallery wall!
I'm usually happy with whatever clutter-free space I've reclaimed.
I need that bag that says "eat cake for breakfast."
I love my entire home. I've made it so that with each and every room there is something that makes me smile and honestly, it's mostly everything I own or have been given.
I have some sort of love and peach symbol in each room. In my garage, I have a beam exposed and I staple all the cards I get from friends and all the art my nieces and nephews draw for me.
I go into our workshop just to smile. You literally could not put anything else on the surfaces. We had bought the peg hooks about two months ago, but hadn't used them. It looks so much nicer and we can see what we have. I also organizer the drawers in the kitchen and put the bottles in storage. The functionality has improved ten fold.
Everything in my apartment, every corner, makes me smile. If it doesn't, I clean it, de-clutter it, fix it, and/or change it. :)
I added some elfa shelves to the bottom of my closet as well as a couple of shoe trays. Every time I open my closet I smile when I see how organized it is. Love it!
"Sometimes cleaning is like shopping!" Crack me up, that is so true!
Sometimes cleaning is like shopping in my house too! :)
My walk in closet has become so spacious I do a little happy dance whenever I go in there. Seriously. Since it is now so nice in our closet we relax and take the time to get stuff put away. Your idea of happy spaces has just inspired me to hang a picture over the dresser in the closet so I can really claim and enjoy this space. Sometimes cleaning is like getting an extra room.
Pi- Its cute, huh! Its by Kate Spade, my office mat has it ;)
I have the same wine racks! And I love the kate spade :) http://katskull.com/tag/the-january-cure/
