Life with a HDTV with an extra large black bezel can be a blessing and a curse. While it's easy to match it up with almost anything, you can also easily fall into the trap of having your living room be a bland, lifeless entertaining space. We suggest doing what Melbourne's Chelsea Hing Design Consultants have done - spruce up the space with a bold punch of Spring yellow.
If design philosophies are your thing (it certain is here at Unplggd), we suggest following Chelsea Hing Design Consultants' when planning out a space with its complementary decor:
"Our design philosophy is based on interiors taking their cue from the architecture, so they make sense with the surrounding environment. Mix that with clever planning and a practical understanding of how people use space to live & work.
That's how good design makes good sense."
Our gut reaction is that most people would immediately dictate that is the VESA-mount wall and throw an extra large TV on it. However, Chelsea Hing Design has instead created a comfortable lounging space by shifting the watching area over to opposite wall, making use of the awkwardly placed window and opening up the space with a - which is my personal favorite touch, by the way - extra-large mirror to the adjacent wall. Doing so not only maximizes space, but creates visual interest and avoids direct glare on the TV itself.
But what do you guys think of the yellow? Is it too bold or just right? Let us know in the comments!
