If you're setting up a workspace on a budget, you might want to check out this live/work room by design firm IDEO. Created for the Marriott Towneplace Suites, an extended stay hotel, the prototypical room incorporates IKEA furniture, wall-mounted storage, and a white-on-white color scheme...

Since most extended stay guests are on long-term business trips, the firm created apartment suites with plenty of workspace. The desk can roll out and act as a room divider, or it can roll under a counter along the wall.

Communal spaces are designed to be self-serve, a cross between a hotel lobby and an apartment foyer. Guests recommend local places to visit, and their ideas are installed on a wall map that acts as a "DIY concierge."

The self-serve reception area follows the same design concept as the rooms: easy access to computers, white-on-white furniture and floors, and streamlined storage.

The snack bar and pantry is self-serve as well. For more information about the project, visit IDEO's site.

Nice design that will likely be a housekeeper's nightmare if that all-white finish is implemented.
Love IDEO but white? In a hotel? That should be kept the sheets. This is going to look like poo in 5 months.
A pain to clean, and a really, really sterile-feeling place to stay. Isn't this what Limbo is supposed to look like?
I actually like it!
Really? Cheap Ikea-ish furniture and weak Helvetica graphics? Ugly PC equipment? I am not finding anything nice about this. Very much a student project that is attempting to look 'designer.'
I can't imagine IKEA furniture holding up in a hotel and with all of it, it looks like a room setting in IKEA! In fact, when I worked there, we had a white on white compact apartment setting that used many of the same ideas.
folks, it's a prototype. The white is more conceptual than anything. Of course the rooms won't be all white.
what is this? a hotel for ants? how can people set up live/work space if they can't even fit inside the building??
