Alright, all you Midcentury boo-birds, close your eyes and skip this post. But for all of you who love that special era of design that forever in our hearts and our homes, take a step into this wayback machine and enjoy this 1958 reel from Chevrolet's "American Look"...
See the whole video at the Prelinger Archives, a collection of over 60,000 "ephemeral" (advertising, educational, industrial, and amateur) films. There's plenty of other vintage era design and decor footage there to be unearthed. Our question is when we'll have our own Roll-Oh already?

Thanks Gregory! we watched the whole thing twice....like Fantasia.
AWESOME!
Thanks Gregory. What a wonderful historic resource! I'll spend a lot of time on this site.
I love the white kitchen. It looks like it is right out of the 2008 Ikea catalog.
I love the kid's playpen - it reminds me of my childhood in the 1970s!
So interesting to watch. While I love the design aspect, I'm so glad gender roles have evolved a little since the 1950s. Did you see the tiny secretary office and the get up that the housewives wore? Amazing.
The music is the best part!
