From shipping containers to garbage trucks, we're fascinated by small space living on the go. This home may be more conventional, mobility-wise; but after reading Andreas Stavropoulos' inspiration and story to remodel and live in a vintage Airstream trailer, this home is definitely out of the ordinary.
The inspiration behind Stavropoulos' home stems from his profession as a landscape architect. When he became self-employed, he found an urgency to surround himself with his medium.
"Whereas landscape architects once spent significant time on the site, the profession now finds some of the most creative minds shoehorned into cubicles. This seemed like a loss to me, and I wondered how it might be possible to create a space for real understanding within the profession—the kind of understanding that occurs from seeing a day of shadows move across a place, or listening to and observing people in a space," he writes.
With this simple and stylish Airstream studio that he renovated himself (both the interior and exterior), Stavropoulos is able to travel and work on site. By the looks of these photos and the rest of the gallery on Dwell.com, we're fairly convinced that Stavropoulus is living a modern-day version of Walden.

sigh. reminds me of my friend who bought a sailboat, fixed it up, and lived aboard... always been a dream of mine. lovely.
Ooh-- just read the full article at Dwell... he removed the bathroom facilities... that could be an issue.
I had a friend who lived in an airstream in college (he never had to pack up his room for the summer!) with a lot of the original features and it seemed much nicer than this...though that one might have been bigger.
If there's no bathroom, he can't really be living in the airstream. Hanging out, sure. Live, no.
My grandparents had a 28' Safari that they often used as a guestroom - I loved sleeping in the Airstream...
...when I hit the lottery, I have my eye on a Flying Cloud 27' FB.

One of my dreams... I could easily live in a small space like this. I am like a cat in that way.
I like the idea of this kind of simple living. But my primal need for a hot shower and general indoor plumbing precludes it.
Wonderful as an extraroom :-D
I once saw a tv program (ancient days of diy) about someone who had remodeled their Airstream into a studio which they kept in the back yard permanently. Love.
When I was a kid & we'd go camping as a family, I always thought Airstreams were ugly & felt sorry for the people who had them. Then I saw the INSIDE! Whoa. Very nice.
Makes me think of...

Forgive me.
Hmmm... doesn't he have a bathroom? A toilet, at least?
Our family lived in our trailer for 5 months waiting for our home to be ready. 3 cats, 2 dogs, 2 adults, 2 kids under 8. 33' long trailer. We LOOOOVED it. We pretty much relied on the public washroom at the park (showers, the bathtubs scared me). Also, the kids swam every single day in the lake and washed up with "lake appropriate" soap. Hubbs is 6'4" but he was pretty cozy in the trailer. We kind of got overwhelmed moving back into a "house". I mean, so much room! I'd move back into a trailer in a heartbeat if I could. Butl iving in Northern Canada, winters are too harsh.
