Livvy Lara's Purple, Pink & Homemade Touches Nursery

My Room

Name: Livvy Lara
Location: Nashville, TN

My daughter Livvy is due at the end of November. After funneling my energy into the creation of a big girl room for my two-and-a-half-year-old Tessa, it was time to think about putting together a nursery for the new gal.

I started by painting the walls, which were originally a smoky purple, Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter--a pretty, soothing "greige." Then we removed a piece of furniture that was way too big for this petite space, and I started to play with color. Purple polka dot blackout curtains from Pottery Barn Kids got me started, and I made contrasting curtain ties out of vintage sheets and cotton candy colored pom-poms.

Then we made up what was formerly our guest bed with lots of colorful, fluffy bedding, and I rehabbed an old rocking chair with pink chalk paint, a handmade pillow, and a rocking chair cushion from Carousel Designs. The bassinet I got for $30 and then rehabbed it by painting it white and creating the bedding for it.

I included prints by artist Tabitha Brown (found on Etsy) mixed with some handmade artwork and other pieces. I reused the Dwell Studio bedding that I still loved from my first daughter's babyhood, as well as the same hand-me-down crib. A flokati rug from Overstock.com and cable knit light fixture from Land of Nod added texture and warmth.

Lovely, thanks Ellen! Readers, see more of this room on Black and White and Loved All Over.
