Living in New York City, the concrete jungle, we are constantly exposed to lots of whites and grays of buildings, sidewalks and streets. As city folk, my boyfriend and I appreciate these colors of the city, but we also yearn for a more indoor/outdoor experience. Bringing nature into our metropolitan home, we've combined the neutral tones of the city with the organic woodland accents of upstate.
Colors used in my room:
Brown, Slate Gray, White, Violet
Tips for using color successfully:
Color should be a backdrop for feelings you hope to experience in each room of your home. Rather than having the color determine the vibe of a room, think about how you want to feel in that room before decorating. For example, calming colors in the bathroom and bedroom can give way to more exciting colors in the kitchen and family rooms where more activity usually takes place.
