The aviation debate waging in London is whether to expand Heathrow or build a new airport. Gensler offers this rendering of a proposed structure in the middle of the Thames estuary, with four runways anchored to the riverbed and terminals floating in between. The project would cost an estimated £50 billion. And what would happen to Heathrow? Converted into an eco-city for 300,000 residents.

I was tipped off to Jacqueline's beautiful riverside home by a mutual friend of her daughter (and architect, but we'll get to that) Pereen. With the start of the Olympics, the spotlight is on host city London. A modern city steeped in history, London is rich in iconic landmarks and symbols: black cabs, double decker buses, red phone booths, Big Ben, Tower Bridge and, of course, the Queen herself. And let's not forget the most recognizable symbol of the United Kingdom: the Union Jack.
