If you've ever lived in an apartment, this 'before' picture might look a little familiar. In fact, I'm pretty sure my very first rental had the exact same wood-trimmed cabinets and white laminate countertop. But when Brooklyn residents Mark and Erin bought their own place, they decided it was time for an update — one that would make their outdated kitchen more beautiful and more useful.
One of my favorite things to do when I travel to a new destination is to find a garden or conservatory to visit. It may be an acclaimed one that I pinned to my "Gardens I Must Visit Before I Die" Pinterest board, or I might have just stumbled across it while out exploring. Regardless, in my book garden visits trump museums any day. Here are some of my favorite gardens that I've visited across the US, as well as gardens that I plan to see in the future.
Name: Andrijana & Stanimir Location: New York City, NY Size: 750 sq ft Years lived in: Several years; Rented
Andrijana & Stanimir do not like to be defined by any particular style or theme, giving them the freedom to incorporate & interchange an assortment of pieces in their apartment. This has become an integral part of their interior process as Andrijana is constantly changing and rearranging the space based on a new find. They've been living in their upper Manhattan rental for several years and have created a home that is open, inviting and full of artistic and cultural details, much like the couple themselves.
Both the temperatures and the sales are heating up as we move into June. From classics like Herman Miller to contemporary looks from Magis, there are deals to be had along with art, crafts and local goodies at city fests, fairs and fundraisers. Check it all out in the Weekend Guide, pass it on and be sure to send us your own sale or event.
