Name: Sam, Chris, Madeleine and Maggie Location: New Town; Edinburgh, Scotland Size: 3,000 square feet Years lived in: 1 1/2 years; Owned
From the moment you walk through the front door into the spacious and grand, grey hall, this family home is elegant and beautiful. Chris holds up his hands and tells me firmly that it is "all down to Sam."
Name: Zoie Kingsbery Coe, founder of Kid & Coe Location: Marylebone, London Size: 1000 square feet Years lived in: 6 years; owned
The location of Zoie Kingsbery Coe’s central London home is hard to beat. Situated in a tranquil and beautiful old mansion block, the apartment is tucked away, yet right in the heart of Marylebone with all the buzz of the city just moments away. The flat is the London home of Zoie, her husband and their two kids. The family lived here full time before moving to New York a few years ago and they now use the flat as their London base.
Name: Tyler and Lolly Lux Location: Kensington, London, United Kingdom Size: 560 square feet Years lived in: 2 years, rented
The morning of my photo shoot at Tyler and Lolly's west London mews home, the couple were visited by an unexpected guest, in the form of a pigeon who somehow managed to fall down their chimney into the living room. "We woke up and could hear this strange flapping noise" Lolly told me when I arrived several hours later. "I ran upstairs and there were feathers everywhere. Tyler had to throw a blanket over the poor thing and put it out the window."
Name: Claire and Marcus Mackay Location: Dennistoun; Glasgow, Scotland Size: Approx 2000 square feet Years lived in: 5 years; Owned
You could fill a book with stories about Claire (Butler and Taylor) and Marcus (The Diving Bell Lounge) and their beautiful home. This semi-detached property in the east end of Glasgow, built in the 1840’s, was originally the billiard room (essentially, a place for men to gather and smoke together — I can’t vouch for the amount of billiards played) of a grand home more than twice the size, and it wasn’t until the 1940’s that it was turned into a home in itself.
Name: Cori & Jake Roberts
Location: West End; Glasgow, Scotland Size: Three story town house Years lived in: 3 years; owned
I can only conclude that Cori, her husband Jake (a film editor) and their three beautiful boys, Milo, Jonah and Louis, have effortless style running through their veins. Cori was born in Sweden, and with a photographer for a mother and artist for a father; their home was a hive of creativity. Her parents were forever pulling things out of skips - salvaging unloved furniture and turning it into something beautiful. As a result, Cori has an innate love for Scandinavian style (with a particular weakness for Danish design), that oozes all over their stunning Glasgow Georgian townhouse.
Name: Antonia and Cinzia Nespoli Location: Notting Hill; London, United Kingdom Size: 1,115 square feet Years lived in: 4 years; owned
For Antonia and Cinzia, sisters and Italian transplants to London, the concept of home is an important one. Both have busy careers and hectic social lives, despite being self-described homebodies. When they decided to invest in a home in their adopted town, they were looking for a space where they could relax and regroup, not an easy thing to find in central London.
Name: Dai, Polly, Minnie & Rosie Hughes Location: Crackington Haven, North Cornwall Size: 3 bedrooms Years lived in: 3, owned
Polly and Dai's colourful cottage in Cornwall is just a short walk to the rugged cliffs and sandy beach at Crackington Haven. The couple moved to this idyllic spot three years ago when their twin daughters, Minnie and Rosie, were babies. It's a far cry from their previous life amidst the hustle and bustle of London's East end, and the family has fully embraced the change of scene.
I would call my style heritage-contemporary as I love mixing old and new. I have to have lots of colour in my home as it makes me happy. I don't stick to any design ethic, I just trust my eye to create a well designed livable space - I have three kids so white everything wouldn't work!
Name: Sarah Bernard, husband James, and stepson Edward (on weekends) Location: Notting Hill, London Size: 1,100 square feet Years lived in: 2 years; rented
Sarah's home has a modern, graphic style and a laid-back vibe that makes guests feel immediately at home in their colorful surroundings. Nothing is staged or forced. If you've been a reader for a while, you may recognize some of the colorful furnishings from Sarah's supremely stylish West Village NYC home - now see how Sarah's style has transformed across the pond...
Name: Lesley Greening Lassoff of Aardvark, and her two lurchers Ernie Spartacus Crabtree and Peggy Pansy Pearl Location: St Leonards, UK Years lived in: 5 years
Lesley is one half of the creative force behind Aardvark, the printmakers who came up with the warm and witty Kill Your TV manifesto. She lives in the seaside town of St Leonards on Britain's south coast in a converted Victorian Sunday school with her two lurchers Ernie and Peggy.
